Carle wrote and illustrated the book which was first published back in 1969, and it has been translated into various languages and loved across the globe since then. Tachikawa's Play! The on-site cafe also has a range of themed eats and drinks on offer, including a "Very Hungry Caterpillar" chocolate gateaux cake, fruit parfait, and pizza toast.
