Even in a city as large and cosmopolitan as Tokyo, certain foods can be hard to find if you don't know where to look. Something that I'd been craving (and had greatly missed!) for quite some time were falafels. Patties made of chickpeas and beans, deep fried to perfection and served in a pita were a comfort food that I could easily find back home in Australia, but hadn't stumbled across at all in Japan.
That changed recently when I was in Ebisu and fatefully walked past a Falafel Brothers store. Their menu has plenty of options depending on your level of hunger. Full or half sized falafel pitas, falafel salads, and hummus plates are just the start of what is available. Their delicious salads are particularly unique, including options like their "crunch salad" which included celery, dates, almonds and red onion. It went perfectly in my pita with lashings of hummus.
As well as the Ebisu store location, they have another branch in Roppongi.
Getting there
The Falafel Brothers Store in Ebisu is located a 6 minutes walk from Ebisu Station.
