Hokusai, the iconic ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period, was deeply influenced by the samurai ethos that permeated his era. Born in 1760, he lived through Japan's tail end of feudalism, and a number of his works depicted samurai. A special exhibition taking place at the Sumida Hokusai Museum is set to explore these samurai-related works, and the event runs until late February 2024.
