Led by the light of the moon, we meet under the starry sky! That’s the tagline for the Sailor Moon collaboration with Kinoca Minolta Planetarium running from December 22, 2020, to March 31, 2021.
Sailor Moon magic
Children of the 90s will surely remember watching the beautiful sailor scouts of peace and love battle against the forces of evil. Sailor Moon was the penultimate story of love, friendship, and girl power. Since the animated series of the 1990s, the series had a reboot more closely following the graphic novel called Sailor Moon Crystal. And, for the first time in 25 years, a new Sailor Moon movie is being released in theatres across Japan.
Sailor Moon Eternal will visit theatres on January 8, 2021. This will be the first half of a two-part movie with the latter half hitting movie screens on February 11, 2021.
Enter the cosmos
The Konica Minolta Planetariums in Yurakucho, Sunshine City (Ikebukuro), and Tokyo Skytree (Oshiage) are three of Tokyo’s premier planetariums. With state-of-the-art equipment and the large domed ceiling above, you’ll be completely immersed in a sea of stars and planets.
There are even special limited seats for two; shaped like crescent moons, these seats are in high demand so do reserve early.
Stars and moon align
To celebrate the release of the Sailor Moon Eternal movies, the lobby of each planetarium will be decorated as a welcome zone where you can experience the world of Sailor Moon. Receive a limited-time novelty gift if you find all three keywords, then enjoy the star show from your seat!
After the show (or before, if you just can’t wait), visit the Café Planetaria. Find yourself in a wonderland of sweets and drinks—all Sailor-Moon inspired! From Sailor Scout mocktails to doughnuts and parfaits—you’ll have a tough time picking a favorite snack.
You'll need to make an advanced reservation for the Sailor Moon Cafe (only in Japanese).
The limited-time menu will run the duration of the event period: December 22, 2020, to March 31, 2021. Whether you visit with friends for New Years' or a casual fun day (or maybe even something more romantic on Valentine's Day) a day with Sailor Moon and friends is always well spent.
