If you are looking for a slice of Italy, you will find it here at Pizzeria a Trattoriia da ISA - the pizza and pasta is absolutely divine. It is super easy to find, just a 5 minute walk from Nakameguro station.
The quality of service is also great. The staff working there are friendly, quick and efficient. I was amazed by the speed in which they managed to get the pizzas out to us, a mere 10 minutes after ordering, especially with the amount of people there. I can happily say the pizza is the best I've ever had in Japan, and it is now my go-to-spot.
They have a vast selection to choose from, with an array of special cheeses, ham, toppings and bases (tomato or cream!). Initially it may seem slightly overwhelming when presented with the menu, because everything sounds, smells and looks delicious! I will assure you now, you can never go wrong with any of the pizzas that you decide to order as they're all scrumptious. I myself always go for the DIAVOLA Diabora (tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil, dry salami & paprika) or MARGHERITA Margherita (tomato sauce, mozzarella & basil). Although you'll probably come out clutching your stomach saying "oh no I think I ate too much", you'll probably be able to eat one pizza per person. If you're going with someone else or as a group I recommend you each order a different pizza and change up the bases i.e one tomato based pizza and one cream based pizza such as PANNA, COTTO E MAIS (mozzarella, fresh cream, ham, corn & bazil) then share the slices!
The atmosphere is also very enjoyable. It isn't your typical, run-of-the-mill, Italian restaurant which you may find scattered around Tokyo. It is nice and open, with tables flowing onto the street and filling the inside. The walls are filled with pictures of many smiling famous customers that have eaten there before, along with an impressive display of the many trophies and certificates of achievement that this Pizzeria has attained.
It is always relatively full, which means means you do get nice and cosy with other customers dining there - especially as the tables are arranged side by side. However by no means does this feel uncomfortable - instead it gives the place a lively sense of community where you become a part of the happy chatter and immersed in the glow of delight from people enjoying there warm, delicious, fresh of the stove plate of pizza.
Although I have been going on about the pizza, because it is what this place is most renowned for, there are other dishes available on the menu such as appetisers, pastas and deserts! My friend got the tiramisu and loved it! I also sneaked a bite, and although I'm not such a big fan of tiramisu myself, I surprisingly found it to taste scrumptious too. The desserts are a great size, they're on the smaller size but that's perfect after the main course.
