Spring Sakura Along the Tama River

The beauty of spring in Tokyo's suburb of Hamura City

Most people have never heard of Hamura, a small town in the western part of greater Tokyo, along the Ome train line just beside Fussa City. Yet it offers splendid views of very long lines of Sakura (Cherry Blossom Trees) along the Tama River. There are more than a hundred Sakura trees planted in the area, blooming simultaneously in spring for a span of about two weeks. Each year, people from the neighboring towns flock here to simply relax and enjoy a good picnic under the Sakura.
