Bon odori festivals are one of the hallmarks of summer in Japan, and there are numerous places to enjoy them across the country. If you're in Tokyo, the Sunshine City Summer Bon Odori Festival held in early August is an easily accessible option to check out.
The multi-day event has been running for over four decades now, and includes traditional dancing, a children's corner with fun carnival games, and tasty festival foods such as takoyaki, kakigori, and yakisoba available to purchase.
Admission to the event itself is free of charge, but do bring yen if you plan on grabbing a bite to eat or drink.

Sunshine City is located an easy eight minutes on foot from Ikebukuro Station. The station is served by various lines, including the JR Yamanote line, the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi, Fukutoshin, and Yurakucho lines, and the Tobu Tojo Line to name just a handful.
