If Japanese or American craft beer is your thing, then Two Dogs Taproom is the place to be! Located in Roppongi, Two Dogs is a restaurant, brewery, and club all housed under the same roof that serves an extensive menu of various craft beers. A wood-fired oven gives their menu a one up on the competition, offering hungry customers a huge selection of not only drinks, but authentic and fresh pizza as well.

With so many bars in Roppongi, a sense of repetitiveness inevitably tends to creep in once you’ve experienced a few. Two Dogs stands out as a unique bar and restaurant in this entertainment district though by offering 25 different kinds of craft beers, including local Japanese craft beers to American imports – a line-up which is constantly renewed and rotated.

Beer ranges from ¥550–¥1,200 depending on the size and brand, but Two Dogs also offers a “Tasting Platter” with four different craft beers for ¥2,000. While they have a full bar, the main attraction is definitely the craft beer. They allow you to try the various brews before selecting one, so don’t worry if the vast selection makes you a bit indecisive. The clientele tends to lean more towards male foreigners who are craft beer enthusiasts, but Two Dog’s international menu draws in both hungry locals and foreign customers who are simply looking for a great meal as well.

Their menu offers everything from pizza cooked in Two Dog’s imported wood fired oven to skirt steak and fish and chips. There is not a huge selection and some of the items can be a bit pricey, like mixed nuts for ¥600, but you can definitely find something delicious for a good price. If you are looking for something light that can still give you a bang for your buck, I recommend the Caesar Salad. At ¥900, I thought it was overpriced, but the salad can easily serve three to four people.

You can’t go wrong with one of Two Dog’s pizzas too. They are pretty large compared to other pizzas in the area and Two Dogs has eight different types to choose from. Toppings range from simple pepperoni to seafood, broccoli, and basil pesto. Additionally, I recommend the wings, which are ¥800. Two Dog’s chips and salsa are also ¥800, so while some things are overpriced, the menu ends up balancing itself out with several steals.

The majority of the staff are fluent in English and are very attentive. Our waitress in particular even offered us several detailed suggestions of things to do in the area and what to skip out on. As mentioned above, Two Dogs tends to draw more of an international crowd, so this is a great place if you are new to the area or want something familiar. This is a great spot to meet up with friends for a casual dinner or for some great drinks before heading out or even going home for the night. The atmosphere is dive bar meets trendy, with floor to ceiling windows and a warm and cozy vibe throughout, so Two Dogs is perfect for friends, business, and even families.

Head on over to Two Dogs for some amazing craft beer, authentic wood fire pizza, and a great dining experience!
