One of the highlights at Tokyo's Ueno Zoo are the giant panda cubs, Lei Lei and Xiao Xiao, who were born in June of 2021. The zoo celebrates their 50th anniversary of having giant pandas this year, and a special event running this October commemorates this.
The Ueno Panda Festa is set to include a variety of fun activities, including talks from the zoo's director and other special guests, appearances from the two panda characters featured in Baby Bus (a children's educational YouTube channel), a variety of music performances, and panda merchandise available to purchase.
There will also be a stamp rally as part of the event, where visitors who collect five stamps at certain locations can receive a set of panda postcards.
Getting there
Most of the events take place around Ueno Park's Fountain Square. The venue can be accessed in under 10 minutes on foot from JR Ueno Station's Park Exit.
