2023 marks the 150th anniversary of the urban park system in Japan, and an event will be held in celebration of this at Ueno Park. It's set to include an exhibition booth covering the history of Ueno Park, PR booths for local industries, food and beverage booths by local shops, and a variety of hands-on workshops suitable for the entire family.
In addition, there will be a VR disaster prevention experience car from the Ueno Fire Department, and a seat belt effect experience car from the Ueno Police Station.
There is no admission fee to enjoy the atmosphere of the event, but bring yen if you plan on making purchases of food, drinks or other items.
Getting there
Ueno Park can be accessed in around two minutes on foot from Ueno Station's Park Exit. The station is served by various lines, including the Tohoku Shinkansen, the Yamanote Line, and the Tokyo Metro Ginza and Hibiya lines to name just a handful.
