Kanagawa's Yakushi-ike Park is a natural paradise throughout the year, but many would agree that the autumn months are particularly lovely. From mid to late November, visitors can take full advantage of this – the park is hosting an illumination event which will light up Taiko Bridge and the maple trees surrounding the pond. On windless nights, the park will also use fog machines to create even more of an ethereal atmosphere.
In addition, the large gingko tree at the neighboring Yakushido Temple will also be adorned with lights.
Getting there
Yakushi-ike Park can be accessed by bus from the north exit of Odakyu Machida Station in approximately 30 minutes.
For those who opt to drive, on-site parking is available. At the time of writing it's free for the first hour, 100 JPY for up to 1 hour and 30 minutes, and then 50 JPY per 30 minutes thereafter up to a maximum of 800 JPY/day.
