A new illumination event at Kobe's Meriken Park is set to run for 10 days this December, bringing plenty of color to the portside city. The theme for the Meyameya Illuminations is Nature/Sun/Future/Vision, with the hope that the blessings of nature will continue to be appreciated well into the future.
The park's Fountain Square will be lit up in all shades of the rainbow, including nature-themed projection mapping on the walkways. There will also be a paid section where visitors can sample hot sake varieties from 26 different breweries in the region.
The illuminations will take place from 5 pm until 9 pm during the event dates, and admission is free of charge.
Getting there
Meriken Park is located approximately 10 minutes on foot from Motomachi Station, which is served by the JR Kobe Line, the Hanshin Main Line, and the Kobe Kosoku Line.
