From late May until late June, Fujimi Panorama Resort in Nagano Prefecture will host the annual 1.2 Million Lily of the Valley Festival. This scenic highland event takes place at the summit of Mount Nyukasa, where spring wildflowers and panoramic mountain views create an ultra-scenic atmosphere.
Located at an altitude of 1,780 meters, the gondola summit area offers sweeping views of more than 30 of Japan’s famous peaks, including Mt. Fuji and the Yatsugatake range. The trail to the summit of Mt. Nyukasa (1,955 meters) is a leisurely one-hour hike, and on a clear day, the 360-degree vistas are breathtaking.
The highlight of the season is the contrast between two species of lily of the valley found here. The German variety is sweetly fragrant and showy, while the native Japanese lily of the valley is smaller and more delicate. Both bloom side by side, offering the opportunity to appreciate their subtle differences up close.
Visitors can also enjoy other seasonal wildflowers like primroses, azaleas, irises, and rare native plants such as the endangered Kamanashi Lady’s Slipper and Ichiyouran. The walking paths are pet-friendly, and dogs are welcome to ride the gondola and explore the trails.

Gondola rides operate from 8:30 to 16:00, with round-trip tickets priced at 2,400 JPY for adults, 1,200 JPY for children, and 800 JPY for pets. A limited number of guests will receive a complimentary wildflower seedling with their ticket.
