Autumn in Japan is best known for some stunning destinations for changing leaves, but there's also an array of floral beauty to enjoy at this time of year. Chrysanthemums are just one example, and there are numerous places to appreciate them across the country.
The city of Hirakata in Osaka is known for their chrysanthemum displays in the form of kiku-ningyo (chrysanthemum dolls), and a new event with digital art collective NAKED brings new life to this longstanding tradition.
The NAKED x Hirakata City event will include historical information about kiku-ningyo, interactive projection mapping displays, and yes – traditional chrysanthemum dolls as well.
Admission to the event is ¥500 for anyone elementary school aged or above. Those below elementary age receive free admission.
Getting there
The Hirakata Performing & Cultural Arts Center is located under five minutes on foot from Hirakatashi Station, which is served by the Keihan Main Line and the Keihan Katano Line.
