The Awa Odori is a traditional Japanese dance festival which is held in Tokushima Prefecture each year, but there are a number of "spin-off" events that happen in different parts of the country. The Tenjin Tenma Awa Odori is one of them, and it's billed as the largest Awa Odori event in the Kansai region.
Taking place along the Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street in Osaka, the event includes dance performances by groups in the Kansai Awa Odori Association, plus music performances and sales of local goodies from municipalities in Tokushima Prefecture.
There is no admission fee to enjoy the event, but do bring yen if you plan on making a purchase.
Getting there
Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street can be accessed in just a minute on foot from Ogimachi Station on the Osaka Metro's Sakaisuji Line. For those using JR lines, the closest station is Temma Station on the Osaka Loop Line – it's about four minutes away.
