There are plenty of spots across Japan to enjoy the best of cherry blossom season, with parks and gardens being a couple of the obvious ones. University campuses, however, are often under-the-radar gems for seasonal beauty, and Atomi University's Saitama campus will be open to the public this spring for their annual sakura festival.
The campus grounds are home to approximately 200 cherry trees covering 46 different types, including the likes of Sano cherry blossoms and weeping cherry blossoms–so there's no shortage of floral splendor to appreciate! Along with all of the blossoms, there will be local products for sale at the event.
Admission to the event itself is free, but do bring yen if you plan on making any purchases.
Getting there
The Atomi University Niiza Campus is located around 10 minutes by taxi (or approximately 30 minutes on foot) from Niiza Station, which is served by the JR Musashino Line.
