A Walk through Kagurazaka

Where French influence and old Japanese traditions meet

A highlight of my walk was having a hot Pekko-chan yaki from this shop! It's sold exclusively at Kagurazaka.

Dining options are aplenty at Kagurazaka's main street.

At Zenkokuji Temple: It is surprising to see that most of the wishes are made by Arashi's (famous pop group) fans.

In Kagurazaka, veer off the main street and you will find traditional Japanese houses and kimono-clad women gracefully sauntering through.

In the back alleys, old traditional Japanese houses are refashioned into restaurants.

Kagurazaka used to be filled with geisha houses and some are still standing today. Explore the narrow alleyways and soak in the mood of the place!

Kagurazaka used to have numerous geisha houses during the Edo period, some of which are still standing. Today Kagurazaka has a strong French influence, home to many French expats. French eateries are also commonly seen amidst sushi and ramen places. The eclectic neighborhood of Kagurazaka is interesting to explore and certainly offers endless dining options. A walk through Kagurazaka clearly shows the interesting combination of tradition and modernity.
