Art Aquarium in Nihonbashi

An afternoon surrounded by fish, many colors and music

<p>In a large tank towards the exit door there are many fish swimming about so much that they become a whole mass of changing colors. </p>

<p>The entrance has a few small aquariums behind which there are mirrored walls. This gives it an otherworldly look. </p>

<p>The aquariums had different colors, or rather the light on them kept changing every few minutes but the fishes didn't seem to mind that. </p>

<p>One of the aquariums had a strange design with many pointed corners and many rooms for the fish to hang out in. </p>

<p>This guy was very energetic and he came to say hello to me and the other people taking photos. </p>

<p>Each fish has their own personality and look; some look bored or tired while some look very inquisitive. </p>

<p>Fish of the same type were usually together and they seemed to be very fast and and moved quickly, especially changing directions often in their aquarium. </p>

<p>Some fish were the solitary type while some bunched together and posed for photos as a group. </p>

<p>The lighting was controlled in the room and also because of the music playing it can be quite a spectacle and very relaxing. </p>

<p>It seems these two fish must be plotting something, of course it may just be the way they look. </p>

<p>Some fish look very cute and are also as curious to see us as much as we are to see them. </p>

<p>There were lots of people visiting and taking photos of the fishes with their cell phones. You can also see some interesting lights in the background behind the tank. </p>

<p>The colors of the lights and the fish as well as the shape of the tank make a lot of photos seem very artistic. </p>

<p>This guy seemed very curious as well and it was my favorite fish at the aquarium. You can find out more about each fish if you buy the books sold at the gift shop after you exit. </p>

<p>In the middle of the last room there was a big round tank of fish with a light placed right on top of it, shining down from the ceiling and changing colors continuously. </p>

I went to the Art Aquarium in summer 2014 and it was a truly fantastic experience. After seeing more than 5,000 goldfish in different tanks, with a myriad of lights and surrounded by soothing music, I also purchased some souvenirs at the gift shop right outside the exit. It's worth seeing and enjoying, just keep in mind there are usually a lot of people in the evenings and on weekends. Great place to visit for couples or families, too. Tickets are around ¥1,000.
