If you're planning a spring trip to Tokyo, there's a new café worth adding to your Harajuku wander. Blue Bottle Coffee will open its Harajuku Cafe on Thursday, March 19th, 2026, right near Cat Street in the Jingumae area. It's an ideal spot to slow down for a moment while exploring one of the city's most lively neighborhoods.
Cat Street follows the old path of the Onden River and has long been a place where Harajuku's fashion, culture, and creativity mix. The new café is designed to fit naturally into that flow. Created by Tatsuya Nishinaga of TEKI DESIGN, the space features a stainless steel exterior that reflects the movement of people and the surrounding streets. Inside, soft finishes and a pale blue ceiling create a calm, open feel that contrasts nicely with the busy area outside.
Coffee is the main draw, and this location comes with a first for Japan. The Harajuku Cafe will be the first Blue Bottle Coffee in the country to serve single origin cold brew, brewed slowly at low temperatures to bring out the character of each coffee bean. Alongside classic espresso drinks, spring-only options like the Cherry Blossom Latte and Matcha Cherry Blossom Latte will also be available, timed perfectly with cherry blossom season.
Food menus also get a Harajuku-only preview. A new Matcha Liege Waffle makes its debut, along with a matcha waffle parfait and several savory sandwiches designed to pair well with coffee. A limited edition drink bottle made in collaboration with Rivers will also be on sale.
If Harajuku is already on your itinerary, this new Blue Bottle makes for an easy and relaxed coffee stop between shops and side streets.
