Ueno seems to be a hub for creative thought. You will undoubtedly be in the right mindset for appreciating the beauty of natural and sculpture after visiting Ueno's Tokyo National Museum, Museum of Nature and Science and/or Museum of Western Art.

The area has some great contrasts, the park is beautiful and tranquil but quite busy and noisy because of all of the children flowing out of the zoo with great excitement. But appropriately around and in-between these significant establishments, is a trail of visually stimulating spots - each made more dramatic with the backdrop of a high-rise metropolis, and this sense of bizarre but beautiful contrast.

From the colorful details at Toshogu Shrine to the park's many public sculptures, and the playful, eye-catching pieces out the front of the zoo; we give you a quick look at the free kicks you can get out of this artistically rich area.
