In commemoration of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, an exhibition at the Tokyo National Museum will introduce the history and culture of sports in Japan. Various arts, crafts, and modern sports memorabilia will be displayed at the event, to trace the origin and development of Japanese sports throughout different periods in history.
Adult admission to the event is priced at 1000 yen, and advance reservations are required. These can be arranged by visiting the official museum website closer to the exhibition's commencement.
Getting there
The Tokyo National Museum is located 10 minutes on foot from either the JR Ueno or JR Uguisudani Station, or around 15 minutes on foot from Nezu Station (Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line) and Keisei Ueno Station (Keisei Line).
For those who opt to drive, the museum is 5 minutes from the Ueno Exit on the Shuto Expressway's Ueno Route. Do note that there is no dedicated parking lot for the museum, so public transport is advised whenever possible.
