A special three-part exhibition is taking place at the Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum of Nature and Science, and the National Archives of Modern Architecture, and is dedicated to Japanese architecture - specifically the traditional skills and natural materials used in the design and creation processes.

The event at the Tokyo National Museum focuses on the origins of Japanese architecture from ancient times to early modern times, and will run from December 24th 2020 until February 21st 2021. The exhibits will include items like raw materials and tools, along with information about how items were sourced and made.

Adult admission to the event is priced at 1500 yen, and advance reservations are required. Details regarding ticket purchases will be posted on the official event website closer to the commencement date.

Getting there

The Tokyo National Museum is located around 10 minutes on foot from either the JR Ueno or JR Uguisudani Stations.

For those who plan to drive, take the Ueno Exit from the Shuto Expressway. There is no on-site parking available, but there are a range of parking lots in the vicinity of Ueno Station.
