Tokunoshima is a relatively unknown gem that makes up part of the Amami Islands chain, and it's renowned for its pristine natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and unique regional cuisine. If you'd like to experience a slice of this in Tokyo, be sure to check out the Tokunoshima Tourism and Product Fair at Yoyogi Park.
The fair is set to include a variety of cultural performances including sanshin music (a traditional stringed instrument from Okinawa and the Amami Islands region), delicious regional cuisine, and information about traveling to this part of Japan.
Admission to the event itself is free, but do bring yen if you plan on purchasing food or drink.
Getting there
The Yoyogi Park Event Plaza + Outdoor Stage can be accessed n five minutes on foot from Harajuku Station, which is served by the JR Yamanote Line. Other train stations in close walking distance include the Tokyo Metro's Meijijingumae and Yoyogi-Koen Stations.
