Cape Inubosaki, Chiba's Great Spot

Spectacular views at the eastern edge of Kanto region

Cape Inubosaki is located in Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. The city is in the eastern area of the Kanto region and very famous for being one of Japan's leading fishing harbors.

It takes around only 2 hours from JR Tokyo station via an express train "Shiosai" to get to JR Choshi station. Then, a small local two-car train, the "Choshi Dentetsu", brings us to Inubo station, the closest station to Cape Inunosaki.

The place is surrounded on three sides by ocean. One of the symbols of the cape is Inubosaki Lighthouse established in 1874. This white lighthouse is not huge rather it is simple yet attractive with the contrast of blue sea and blue sky. I visited there during the "Golden Week Holidays" , one of the peak travel seasons in Japan, but there were not a large number of tourists. I could really enjoy the excellent views.
