The first stage of my cycle trip (Amanohashidate to Ine) was mostly flat, but the second day seemed to be all up and down - hot work in the summer sun. To make matters worse, I hardly got any sleep because I heard a bear in the middle of the night! Even so, the ride around the cliffs to the lighthouse was exhilarating, and the magnificent views worth every uphill haul. After the lighthouse came a series of rocky bays strung together by ridiculously steep roads. I was determined to find a camping ground for my second night, which I finally did, at Kotohikihama-kakezu Camping Ground.
