Straight across from the U.S. Military's Yokota Air Base in Fussa, you'll find a number of eateries with a distinct American influence. If you're seeking a fun eating experience here in the land of the rising sun, look no further than Demode Diner, which has a menu and decor that will have you thinking you've landed on the opposite side of the Pacific.

The menu - as may be expected - is dominated by burgers, with a wide variety of options. There are BLT Burgers, Tex-Mex burgers, avocado cheeseburgers and more. You'll even find a few Japanese-inspired burgers on the menu, including a teriyaki and egg burger and a shrimp and avocado burger.

Even if you don't visit for a full meal, there are plenty of side dishes to satisfy just about any level of hunger. Onion rings, curly fries, and mac 'n' cheese are just some of what there is to choose from.

When it comes to drinks, there are a range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, but for the quintessential American diner experience it can be hard to go past their thick shakes or floats. I'm partial to the choc-mint thick shake myself, but there are many other flavors including Oreo, chocolate banana, and a spicy chai variety.

If you really want to go big or go home, check out the Fussa two pound big tower burger. Living up to its name, the burger towers over 30 centimeters in height, with a full two pounds of meat along with other toppings. One to split with a group, perhaps!

Getting there

Demode Diner is located on Route 16 in Fussa, Tokyo. The closest stations to the restaurant are Ushihama Station on the JR Ome Line, or Kumagawa Station on the JR Itsukaichi Line. From either station, the diner is approximately twelve minutes away on foot.
