For a limited time, the Tsutaya Bookstore in Roppongi will be hosting an exhibition focused on hand-themed works from Masaharu Sato (1973 - 2019). Sato had received various art accolades throughout his career, including the 12th Taro Okamoto Contemporary Art Award in 2009.
The works on display are sourced from one of his video projects, and they depict hands in a variety of ways -- a hand stroking a cat, a hand brushing teeth, a hand turning a page, and a child's hands playing with a toy. The poignancy of an exhibition centered around hands is emphasized in the current global climate, with hand contact such as handshakes nixed at present due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
