The Shitamachi Ueno Furusato Bon Odori Festival started in 2017 as a way for businesses and organizations in the Ueno Okachimachi area to connect, and the popular summertime event is free of charge to enjoy.
The bon odori dance component will include traditional bon songs alongside anime music and current pop songs, injecting a fun dose of modernity and uniqueness to the festival. In addition to the dancing, the family-friendly event will have a kids corner with hands-on activities to take part in, a variety of booths where visitors can grab a bite to eat or drink, and fun stage performances to check out.
Please note that in the event of rain, certain elements of the festival will be cancelled.
Getting there
The event takes place at Okachimachi Station's South Exit Station Square, commonly referred to as Okachimachi Panda Square.
The station is served by the JR Yamanote Line and Keihin-Tōhoku Line.
