The curator has a minimalist philosophy so we can focus on the exhibits. These gifts are the protagonists. Clean and simple, there is no need for any decoration. (Photo: Hoyee Tse)

47 Gifts from d47 Museum

A 3-D guidebook for every prefecture

The 47 prefectures of Japan each specialize in producing a few thousand different kinds of food and handmade products. Where does your favourite item originate from? Or do you need some inspiration for your next destination? The d47 Museum on the eighth floor of Shibuya Hikarie holds a free exhibition answering these questions using a gift box from every prefecture. The idea is based on capturing the spirit of each prefecture through their regional cuisine and handicrafts.
