The small town of Wakasa Takahama in Fukui Prefecture is well worth a visit. Clear blue waters and white sandy beaches attract many crowds in the summer season, but come on a weekday or just after the summer holidays have ended and you'll end up with the beach all to yourself. The warm waters and friendly people are part of what make this town special.
