Now in its 5th year, the Samurai Festival at Ueno Park allows attendees to experience Japanese history through samurai culture. The four-day event includes a variety of performances such as sword fighting displays, armor try-ons and other interactive experiences, samurai and ninja merchandise for sale, festival-style games, and food and drink available to purchase.
Admission to the event itself is free, but some of the activities require payment. Bring some yen if you plan to take part in some of the games, buy merchandise, or purchase something to eat or drink.
Getting there
The event takes place at Ueno Park's Fountain Square, which can be accessed in under 10 minutes on foot from JR Ueno Station's Park Exit.
