Shounsanso is a landscaped Japanese garden in Kashiwazaki, Niigata, and it's known for having some spectacular fall foliage to enjoy. There are approximately 600 maples set against 200 evergreen pine trees on the grounds, ensuring some very colorful scenery during the autumn months.
To make the most of the seasonal color, the garden hosts an annual autumn leaves light-up which typically runs from late October until late November each year. The trees are illuminated from sunset (approximately 5 pm) until 9 pm daily throughout the event dates, and admission is free of charge.
